Today we are so glad to bring you a new episode of “Living La Vida Yoga”. Rosaria Mazzon is a Yogini from Italia, also known in Instagram as @rosariamazzon ! We love to share inspiring yoga stories with the community !!!
So, here we go !! Learn more about Rosaria and learn a lot from her experience !
How did you get into yoga? Why did you start practicing?
I was looking for an intensive stretching program to combine with my training… during that period I was training a lot with weights and needed a good stretching program to do on rest days not to lose my flexibility. It was like treating myself, taking some time just for myself doing something that felt so good was the nicest gift I could do to myself.
It was not a real practice yet, I used to do series of exercises that I found on books or youtube, I had no idea of how important breathing properly was. But it soon became addictive till I tried a real studio: the moment the teacher walked in I knew I was in the right place
What made you want to become a yoga teacher?
Yoga has changed my perspective so much in a positive way that I naturally started talking about it with people and friends and they started to ask for advices..at the beginning I did not know the answers, very often I still do not know, all I kept suggesting was to try and practice. This is the power of yoga I believe: you only have to give it a try, leave a creep open and it will find its way inside you. In every single one it will come out in a different way or shape, we all end up having a different journey but in any case it will transform us and will help us grow in a positive way.
What or Who inspired you everyday?
My teacher is my inspiration. He is so firm and rooted. I am inspired by all the yogis I follow on the net. Some are really amazing. It was not easy at the beginning as I would compare myself and ended up feeling frustrated all the time.. but then I started looking at them as inspiration and it all changed. As I was saying, we all have our journey, we are here to inspire, be inspired, support and be supported. This is what I love about this community: lots of people brought together by the same passion, supporting each other, no matter which side of the world they live.
What kind of yoga styles do you practice?
I practice Ashtanga and Power yoga and I teach Power yoga. But I love Vinyasa flows and Hatha also.
What has been your biggest Yoga Experience up to date?
Maybe the Teacher training. As student, I live every workshop I attend it as “The Event”.
As teacher every new studio, every new student is a great experience…as I know if I approach them in the right way they will likely continue, whether with me or not it does not matter, but they will continue their journey, otherwise they will likely quit. At least for the moment.
What advice would you give to someone just starting its yoga journey?
Find a good teacher, someone that inspires you or that approaches you in the right way. Someone you trust. And try. And practice. Lots of questions people have at the beginning will become clear with practice. Lots of answers teachers give will only be understood after the practice. I would say not to compare yourself with others, we are all different and we are all going on different journeys. Yoga’s purpose is to help us develop a better version of ourselves, help us love and accept who we are and it can do it in million different ways. I would also say not to judge others and ourselves and to leave a little creep in our heart open and give yoga a little chance to insinuate and grow ..it will find its own way.
