Meditation is very powerful to bring awareness; it focuses our attention into the present moment. Benefits are numerous. This practice helps us reduce anxiety , stress and is a source of balance, harmony and peace.
How can a beginner start a Meditation? You can start with a short one, 5 to 7 minutes is ok as a start :
*Set an intention.
*Find a comfortable place, Light a candle and an incense and sit down keeping your spin straight.
*Close your eyes and connect with your breath. Simply let go and try to disconnect from any thoughts …
Later, once you manage to do longer meditation, you can decide to incorporate mala beads in your practice. The feeling of the beads running over the fingers is very relaxing and calming. This will keep you from distractions and will definitely help you to get focused longer period of time. A Mala Necklace is a great tool to enhance concentration during meditation.
Here are some advices on how to use them :
*Take the beads with your right hand (the left hand in India is considered impure). Hold the 1st bead (the one after the Guru bead) with your thumb and middle finger and pull it forward. Be aware not to touch the beads with the Index as it is said that index represents your “ego”.
*You can simply run your fingers over the beads, slowly until the end.
*When you reach the end, don’t touch the Guru bead. You can finish your meditation then, or if you want to go further, turn around your Mala and start again.
You can use a Mala necklace made of gemstones with the healing benefits that match your intention.
Another form of meditation is Mantra Chanting. In the tradition, a mantra is a Sanskrit word that is said to hold mystical powers. The mantra is repeated or chanted 108 times. There are very powerful Mantras like “Ganesha Mantra” for removing obstacles, or “Om Shanti “ as an invocation of peace. There are so many interesting things to share regarding Mantras that it is necessary to make another post for them…
